Educational programmes
How do we support learning Estonian?
Our educational programmes allow you to improve your Estonian language skills while learning to better understand Estonian culture.
You can visit cultural institutions and complete a programme prepared based on the following principles:
- Development of language skills in a favourable environment: activities take place in cultural institutions across Estonia in simple Estonian, which gives you more courage to speak, read, and listen.
- Joint activities and an encouraging atmosphere: Estonian language learners work in a small group (up to 20 people) in a safe and friendly atmosphere where they can ask questions and contribute. Joint exercises and listening and reading tasks help you practice Estonian.
- Taking a closer look at Estonian culture: visiting cultural institutions combined with practical learning activities will make both learning the language and living in Estonia in general easier.
Who can participate?
All adult learners of Estonian, i.e. long-term residents, returnees, and newly arrived immigrants, whose language skills are at least at level A2.
How to participate?
Until October 2025, the educational programmes for Estonian language learners will be conducted by the Estonian History Museum and Tallinn City Museum.
You can choose between two educational programmes, each lasting two days. Language learners can participate in both, choosing the one that suits them best based on time, place, and topic.
To successfully complete the educational programme, you must participate on both days, i.e. in full.
How is it organised?
The educational programmes have been developed by cultural institutions involved through a public procurement.
Our partners develop the educational programmes based on the guide ‘Plain-language educational programmes for Estonian language learners’, compiled by language expert Helena Metslang.

We publish detailed information about the educational programmes in the calendar.
