Finding the common language

We offer adults (aged 18 and over) living in Estonia opportunities to learn Estonian and get to know Estonian culture for free to support comprehensive integration (find out more). The selection includes Estonian language courses, specialised language courses, activities that support language learning, and independent language learning.
Learners can choose can choose a suitable learning opportunity based on their legal status:
Long-term resident
An adult who has lived in Estonia for more than five years
Returnee
An adult who has lived abroad and has returned to Estonia
Newly arrived immigrant
An adult who has lived in Estonia for less than five years
Citizenship applicant
A foreigner who wishes to acquire Estonian citizenship
Learning opportunities
For adult language learners living in Estonia, we offer free Estonian language courses and activities introducing Estonian culture in the Estonian Language House of the Integration Foundation and in cooperation with partners:

Estonian language courses
Courses that ensure Estonian language proficiency at level A1, A2, or B1

Adaptation programme
Foreigners who have arrived in Estonia can participate in the Settle in Estonia adaptation programme

Language learning agreement
We offer free courses to help you learn Estonian at level B1, which is required for applying for citizenship
Participation
We publish opportunities for learning Estonian and getting to know Estonian culture in the calendar. Those interested can sign up for courses and activities in the respective online environments.

Organisation
Based on our everyday activities and research, we know that learning the Estonian language and getting to know Estonian culture supports comprehensive integration. We consider these activities part of the integration process and therefore offer language learning opportunities and develop teaching methodologies.
