Newly arrived immigrants

A newly arrived immigrant is an adult (aged 18 or over) who has lived in Estonia for less than five years on the basis of a residence permit or right of residence.
Newly arrived immigrants can participate in our activities within five years after receiving the first residence permit or the temporary right of residence of a citizen of the European Union.
Examples of newly arrived immigrants:
- a foreigner who has been granted a temporary residence permit as a conventional migrant or as a beneficiary of temporary protection or international protection;
- a citizen of the European Union who has been granted temporary right of residence;
- a family member of a citizen of the European Union who has been granted temporary right of residence.

Adaptation programme
The adaptation programme Settle in Estonia is a free study programme whereby the Estonian state helps recently arrived foreigners to adapt to local life faster and integrate into Estonian society. The activities necessary for the implementation of the adaptation programme are organised and developed by the Integration Foundation.
